4 Day Tour of Northern Morocco From and to Tangier Via Chefchaouen, Fes, Meknes, and Rabat
Your professional driver will meet you at the port, airport, or your hotel in Tangier. We will begin our journey by traveling through the picturesque Rif Mountains, enjoying breathtaking views of verdant valleys and majestic peaks. In the afternoon, we will arrive in Chefchaouen, the renowned Moroccan city. Nestled at the foot of the imposing Rif Mountains, this city is famous for its striking blue houses and tranquil atmosphere. What you will do: Spend the afternoon strolling through the narrow, winding streets of the Medina, photographing the vibrant blue doors, and visiting the historic Kasbah in the main square, Uta el-Hammam. Accommodation: A charming traditional riad in Chefchaouen.
After breakfast, we head south to Fez, the ancient spiritual capital. Along the way, we'll travel back in time with two incredible cultural stops: In the morning, after breakfast, we'll follow in the footsteps of the emperors at the Roman ruins of Volubilis. We'll visit Meknes, the 17th-century Ismaili capital, and in the evening, we'll wander through the labyrinth of nine thousand alleyways in Fez to spend the night in a luxurious riad. Volubilis: A UNESCO World Heritage Site, with the best-preserved Roman ruins in Morocco and stunning, intact mosaics. Meknes: One of Morocco's four imperial cities. We'll stop to admire the monumental Bab Mansour gate, the vibrant El Hedim square, and the sacred Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail. Accommodation: A luxurious riad in the heart of the Fez medina.
Today is dedicated to exploring the oldest and largest medieval city in the world. After breakfast, your certified local guide will meet you at your Riad for a half-day walking tour of the Fes Medina (Fes el-Bali). What you will see: The spectacular golden doors of the Royal Palace. The historic Jewish Quarter (Mellah). The ancient Al-Qarawiyyin University (the oldest operating university in the world). The famous Chouara Tannery, where leather has been dyed using traditional methods for centuries. Vibrant souks filled with spices, ceramics, and hand-woven textiles. Overnight: Riad in Fes.
On our final day, we depart Fes and drive west to the modern coastal capital of Rabat. We will explore the city's unique blend of modern planning and historic landmarks: The Hassan Tower: An iconic 12th-century minaret standing proudly next to the elegant Mausoleum of Mohammed V. Kasbah of the Udayas: A peaceful, whitewashed fortress overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. After a delicious lunch by the coast, we drive north along the highway, returning you safely to Tangier (port, airport, or hotel) with memories to last a lifetime.
